In the past, we’ve talked about your energy – and other people’s energies, too, especially negative ones that are used to attack, eat up and harm you emotionally, spiritually and mentally.
Here are ways for you to protect your energy:
1) Know Yourself
The first step to protecting your energy is to know it – to understand that you have it, that you are unique and that you can do something that’s relatively different from others. Your energy is precious and valuable and it is something you have to acknowledge for yourself. This brings us to tip #2…
2) Don’t depend on others for your identity
When you know yourself, you won’t need others to validate your worth. This scenario usually happens when you step outside your comfort zone and start doing things outside the boundaries you are used to, because you tend to ask people, “Am I doing this right?” or “Should I do exactly what this other person is doing?” Or, you may constantly do things to gain the approval of other people.
There is comfort in familiarity, but you’ll miss out on great things that you may encounter if you decide for yourself and avoid looking to others.
3) Avoid energy vampires
I talked about energy vampires in a previous post, and yes, they’re the kind of people who suck out all energy from you. Whether they do it intentionally or not, the best thing you can do is avoid them at all costs!
4) Don’t strive too hard for perfection
We always want to be perfect in everything we do, but expecting yourself to be perfect in everything and constantly thinking about anything that’s wrong with you will invite negative energies into your personal space. You don’t need to “fix” everything in your life – and life can be messy at some points in time. You don’t have to ensure that everything is all perfect all the time.
5) Learn grounded meditation
Grounding is a process where you connect your body to the earth. This process allows you to let go of energies, especially those that aren’t yours.
6) Learn to let things go
This is connected to grounding yourself, and this step however, isn’t just for negative energies. Let go of feelings, emotions and thoughts. Let go of the fact that you can’t be perfect, or of being guilty. Let go of the need to solve all problems that come your way. Lastly, let go of responsibilities that are not yours. You do not have to save the world Practice letting go from time to time and focus only on the essential. Your body and your spirit will definitely thank you for it.
