If you’re not familiar with the term “sacred space”, you will benefit from getting to know a bit about it. Sacred space is a certain ‘space’ where you feel very safe to just be yourself fully and connect to yourself and your Higher Power. Now there are a lot of people who think that in order to experience sacred space you must go to a sacred destination like the pyramids or Machu Picchu or some other sacred site. This is not true. Those places are wonderful and you can connect from there, but you can also cultivate sacred space wherever you are at.
Sacred space involves cultivating peace and quiet. You can be indoors, outdoors, in traffic, or anywhere to create sacred space. Of course, it may be easier to do so when you are in a quiet spot like nature, but you can be successful doing so in noisy areas as well. For example, let’s say you’re at an art show looking at beautiful pieces of art. There may be others around, but as you stand in front of an art piece that touches you, you can cultivate sacred space right there, enjoying a supernatural type of peace and joy.
Why do we need sacred space?
Sacred space simply helps us to quiet the mind and gives us the opportunity to connect with our Higher Selves and Source. We can access inner wisdom during sacred space time and ideas and knowledge can just flow easily. It’s simply you going deep inside to swim in the peaceful reservoir that is always there waiting for you to come and rest.
If you’re seeking more peace, joy, wisdom, or creativity, spending more time in your sacred space will serve you well. Take time daily to open sacred space for yourself. This is much like meditation and requires discipline. You can do this as you feel led or you can designate certain times of the day to do so. For example, maybe you get breaks during your work day. During those breaks, you could go off to a quiet place and cultivate your sacred space during that time. It could be the restroom, a break room, or simply anywhere you can simply get quiet with yourself.
You don’t have to travel all over the world to find sacred space, nor do you have to decorate your home with all sorts of spiritual symbols. You can simply get quiet within yourself as often as you’d like and enjoy the deep connection that already exists between you and your higher self and the Universe. Go ahead and get started enjoying more peace and joy today.
